Coleman Hawkins

Coleman Randolph Hawkins (November 21,1904 – May 19,1969) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. Hawkins is strongly associated with the swing music and big band era, and he had a role in the development of bebop in the 1940’s.

Hawkins was one of the first prominent jazz musicians on the instrument.

He made many records and was a part of many recordings. He played with most of the famous jazz musicians of the time and was highly respected for his talent.

He was born in St. Joseph, and died in New York, New York.
