Sonny Myers

Harold “Sonny” Myers (January 22, 1924 – May 7, 2007) was a professional  wrestler involved in the business for sixty years.

Sonny was labeled “can’t miss” by sports writers and experts. He began wrestling when he was 18 years old and knew right away that wrestling was his future. At age 23 he was listed as one of Americas outstanding wrestlers in the publication, Stars of the Mat. His tours through Texas, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa were said to be legendary and he captured nearly every regional belt in the country.

Myers held many prominent heavyweight championships in several territories, most notably the Central States territory, where he was NWA Central States Heavyweight Champion fourteen times. He also held various tag team championships, the United States Heavyweight Championship two times, the  NWA  North America Heavyweight Championship two times as well as the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

After retiring from wrestling Myers was elected sheriff in Buchanan County, Missouri. He also promoted a very popular traveling Sonny Myers Carnival for 22 years.
